On Saturday, October 24, the community turned out to help the University Honors Program support the American Heart Association. UL Lafayette student Ian Madray and Smash Bros. Club put on a Smash Brothers tournament with both the WiiU Smash 4 and Smash Brothers Melee games.  A raffle also took place, and winners of the raffle and tournaments each received $50 gift cards donated by local gaming stores. Businesses in the area also donated food for the event. Over 180 students and people from the community made it a successful event at Judice-Rickels Hall.
Winners: Melee Winner-Victor Tedesco, Smash4 Winner-Ian Odom, Raffle Winner-Beth Watson.

Honors students have been participating through October in raising money for Heartwalk of Acadiana which donates to heart disease research. A bake sale was held this month for the Heartwalk Association of Acadiana with donations of baked goods from hundreds of Honors students. Together the bake sale and tournament have raised almost $900 in donations. Honors students will continue to raise funds for the charity through the month of November.
