On Friday March 17, 2017 and Saturday March 18, 2017, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette hosted the Louisiana Collegiate Honors Conference (LCHC) at the Student Union on UL Lafayette's campus. Friday night, students were treated to a fantastic dinner provided by our Union's waitstaff, and Honors student research posters were spread throughout the room to be viewed after dinner. As part of the dining entertainment, Taniecea Arceneaux Mallery, Ph.D., Director of Equity, Diversity and Community Engagement delivered a laudable presentation discussing leadership roles and perception of self and others. After dinner, a game room was provided for students to participate in board games and other fun activities, including dancing in the Ballroom provided by a D.J.

Saturday, Honors student presentations were dispersed throughout conference rooms in the Union, and Honors students were given the opportunity to attend multiple research discussions. Multiple schools participated in these research, literature, and creative presentations, including Nicholls State University, Grambling State University, Southern University Baton Rouge, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of New Orleans. Quiz bowl teams from each school competed for the coveted title of champion and the Quiz Bowl trophy. Once more this year our own Ragin' Cajuns won the Quiz Bowl tournament and brought home the trophy. Pictures of the championship and the LCHC events from Friday through Saturday are provided below. We would like to thank our volunteers, Dr. Julia Frederick, Mrs. Mary Ellen Stegall, Mrs. Angela Ardoin, and Mr. Jason Suire for all of their time and dedication in making the event a success. Special thanks to all of the schools for participating as well. We look forward to the next LCHC at a Louisiana school near us.
