KNOW THE
CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT:
HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Code of Student Conduct was updated to include safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It is important that you know what has been added to the Code of Student Conduct as it applies to you when you are on campus and off.

Read the Code of Student Conduct.

If you have any questions regarding the Code of Student Conduct, contact the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities at (337) 482-6373 or SRR@louisiana.edu.

WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE
CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT
APPLY TO ME?

The Code of Student Conduct applies to all UL Lafayette students 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on and off campus, including in:

  •     residence halls;
  •     sorority and fraternity houses;
  •     off-campus housing (i.e., apartments, homes, etc.);
  •     classrooms;
  •     parking lots and structures;
  •     outdoor and other common spaces; and
  •     while attending off-campus gatherings such as parties, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Louisiana Department of Health.

HOW DO I COMPLY WITH THE CODE'S HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS?

Students are required to comply with health and safety laws, orders, ordinances, regulations, and guidance adopted by the University as it relates to public health crises, including COVID-19. This guidance may include, but is not limited to:

  •     social distancing;
  •     limitations on gatherings;
  •     wearing a face covering;
  •     COVID-19 diagnostic and surveillance testing (including before or upon arrival on campus);
  •     contact tracing;
  •     disinfection protocols;
  •     limitations on guests in residence halls and sorority and fraternity houses; and
  •     quarantine/isolation requirements.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A STUDENT DOES NOT FOLLOW THE CODE?

All students are prohibited from creating a health or safety hazard on University premises and during off-campus University and non-University-sponsored activities.

The University may impose sanctions and/or request or require a student to leave campus if their continued presence in the campus community poses a health or safety risk to others.

We expect all members of the campus community (including, but not limited to students, faculty, staff, and visitors) to act in a manner that demonstrates respect and consideration for those around them.

HOW CAN I REPORT
NONCOMPLIANCE?

If you notice someone not wearing a mask or face covering, not wearing it correctly, not social distancing, or not complying with other aspects of the code, let the University know.

You can report concerns of noncompliance involving students to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities through the Community Reporting Form.

You can report concerns of noncompliance involving faculty or staff members to the Office of Human Resources through the COVID-19 Safety Concerns/Non-Compliance Anonymous Reporting Form.

WHEN SHOULD I PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING??

You must practice social distancing even while wearing a face covering. You should be 6 feet away from others.

Students are required to comply with any social distancing efforts implemented on campus and off campus because of COVID-19 or other public health emergencies. These efforts may include, but are not limited to, reassignment of class space, restrictions on use and availability of campus areas, and other occupancy and operational adjustments.
