As a part of the 2017 charitable initiative drives, the University Honors Program in conjunction with the Honors Board chose as one of its charitable donations a high school supplies drive. The high school chosen to receive the donations was Northside High School. The charitable donations were grouped in a sizable grouping of 8 boxes and included items such as pens, loose-leaf paper, notecards, and even backpacks. The estimated appraisal by the Honors Program was a total of $500 or more in school supply items. Peace Eze, the Vice Chair of the Honors Board, and Ms Mary Ellen Stegall, an Honors professor and charity organizer, visited Northside High school to deliver the school supplies, and were met by the Principal, Julia Williams.
