ESMOAS

The UL Lafayette Honors Program hosted the Eugene Scassa Mock Organization of American States in the Student Union Ballroom and upstairs "U" conference rooms. The ESMOAS conference lasted from Thursday Nov. 5 to Saturday Nov. 7. It consisted of over 10 teams representing South American, Central American, and Caribbean nations, including students that came from as far as Mexico City, Mexico to participate in the conference. Thursday and Friday students met to debate resolutions in their individual forums, and Friday night was ended with an Emergency Plenary session that helps students practice political diplomacy in the event of emergency situations. Saturday night, an evening of food and drink was attended by students at the Cecil Picard Center, wherein keynote speaker John C. Roberts spoke to the 130 students about his experiences as Diplomat in Residence for Southeast Texas and Louisiana. Find out more about joining ESMOAS. The UL Lafayette ESMOAS team represented the country of Bolivia. Proceed below for pictures from the event.

Preview Day

As well, Preview Day was this Saturday, Nov. 7 in the Student Union. Student volunteers came to the Honors Program table to help recruit new high school students to the Honors Program. Students from all parts of campus also attended as volunteers for their tables and presented the high schoolers with many options for when they arrive at our campus. The Honors Program sincerely thanks all the volunteers who came out to support Preview Day. Special thanks to Professor Mary Ellen Stegall and Honors Board member Katie Wappel for their untiring help to recruit volunteers. Proceed below for pictures from the event.
