Student Presenters
The following pages include information necessary to properly complete the registration process. Please ensure that you have read and understand all instructions on each page before moving to the next section.
- Any undergraduate level student of a Louisiana System university is invited to present their research at UL Lafayette’s Undergraduate Research Conference.
- There are two options for student presentations: Posters or Oral Presentations.
- Human Subjects Research - As a researcher, if you plan to gather information from people and present your information at a conference, you probably are conducting Human Subjects Research. The Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects or the “Common Rule” mandates that all research involving human subjects be reviewed/determined by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure protection of the rights and welfare of human participants. You need to have your research reviewed by the Institutional Review Board prior to collecting data. Your instructor might be assisting you with this or you might have to submit an application to the IRB on your own. If your project uses human subjects or private information from people and you do not get an IRB approval/determination, you will not be able to present your information in a public forum such as the UL Lafayette Undergraduate Research Conference. For more information, contact your university's review board.
Guidelines for each presentation option can be found at the following links:
